A country that is part of the United Kingdom and covers the northern third of the island of Great Britain. It contains more than 790 islands. Romans invaded Scotland in 79 AD and the remains of Roman buildings still exist.

Trivia

The majestic landscapes of the Scottish Highlands include numerous castles. The country is known for the Loch Ness Monster, a creature said to live in Loch Ness. Bagpipes are widely known as a national symbol of the country.  The iconic movie Braveheart was not directly based on actual events however the film became part of Scottish culture.
