The islands of Puerto Rico are located in the Caribbean. The territory's official title is the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. The land was originally inhabited by the Ortoiroid, Saladoid, and Taíno people prior to the arrival of Christopher Columbus. Spanish is still the predominant language spoken on the islands.

The piña colada was invented in Puerto Rico. Hunter S. Thompson's novel The Rum Diary takes place in Puerto Rico. US citizens don't need a passport to visit the territory.
